Guild Wars PvP

Guild Wars is a unique MMORPG developed by ArenaNet and published by NCsoft, GW has to main gameplay modes, co-operative and Player vs Player (PvP). Players use a 3D avatar to interact with the world around them. The game predominantly features a third person perspective but also has the option of first person as well.

One of the things that make GW stand up from other MMORPGs is the fact that its not based on subscriptions, once you buy an episode you will have it forever and at a relatively low price.Guild Wars threatens the entire online RPG establishment with its bold design. More importantly, it's a very impressive game that's rewarding on many different levels and can be tremendously appealing for any number of reasons.

GW has 4 episodes, Prophecies, Factions, NightFall and Eye Of  The North. The core (Prophecies) professions ( warrior, ranger, monk, necromancer, mesmer and elementalist) can be chosen in any chapter, in Factions players can also choose Assassin and Ritualist and in NightFall they can choose Paragon and Dervish. Also players can pick a secondary profession that can be changed anytime, giving players a wide range of combinations and a huge amount of possible builds that can fit any play style. Getting end game equipment (stats wise) is quite easy in GW giving the players the chance to dive in PvP quite fast even on the Role-Playing server, after you unlock all the skills you need on RP server you can create characters on the PvP only server with end game equip and skills.

In battle you can take only 8 skills with you so you have to choose wisely, this system keeps the game balanced and the PvP very challenging. In Guild Wars you wont find any class over-powered, any build has a nemesis making the game more fun :)

Player vs Player

For those who love PvP there are several way to do it:

Random Arena - The Random Arenas (or RA) are a group of Player versus Player arenas where two teams of four people battle each other across thirteen different maps. Both the teams that are generated and the maps themselves are chosen randomly.

Codex Arena - The Codex Arena is a four vs. four PvP game type where players are limited in their build creation by a limited pool of skills, the Codex

Guild vs Guild - Also known as GvG or Guild Battle, is a strategic form of PvP which matches two teams of eight players from different guilds against each other in the Guild Halls. The core objective of the combat is to kill the opposition's NPC Guild Lord before the opposition does the same to your Guild Lord.

Heroes' Ascent - Also known as HA, is a continuous global tournament between teams of 8 players from all over the world. Teams compete in several arenas in sequence before finally meeting in the Hall of Heroes, where they may win valuable loot.

Fort Aspenwood - Is a Competitive Mission where the Luxons, led by a Luxon Commander are invading a Kurzick fortification, to prevent Master Architect Gunther from developing a weapon called Gods' Vengeance to be used against them.

The Jade Quarry - Or JA is a competitive mission in which the Luxons and Kurzicks fight for control over jade resources.

Guild Wars makes PvP much more accessible than most games of this kind. In other games if you want to have any chance in PvP you have spend literally hundreds of hours to grind xp and equipment. Here you can just create a PvP char lvl 20 (cap) with decent equipment and skills and jump in the arenas, although you can unlock extra skills by completing the game's missions in the role-play mode.Once you unlock a skill on one character its open account on the whole account so you can always create a new char and have all the skills unlocked if for some reason you don;t like your current character.
With the option to change your secondary profession anytime GW really gives you the chance to find the perfect build ( skill build ) for your play style.GW has the most competitive PvP I have ever seen in a MMORPG.

Guild Wars breaks the RPG mold in many ways, and does it with style, you want PvP you got PvP, you want a  game good story and great graphics you got one.If you like killing other player GW is your game, even if you have no interest in player-versus-player battling whatsoever, Guild Wars will still provide you with more than 100 hours of quality gameplay, which you can tackle either alone or together with other players pretty much every step of the way.No matter what kinda of game you like you should give Guild Wars a chance, you wont regret it.

Classes:

Druid - The most versatile class. Druids are effect support characters but can also call upon their feral nature and shapeshift into powerful beasts. Their talent trees are Balance, for nuking, Feral, for melee damage and tanking capabilities, and Restoration, for healing. They can have high armor and rage like a warrior in Bear Form, stealth and fight in melee like a rogue in Cat Form or heal and nuke with spells in humanoid form.

Hunter - The archers of WoW, hunters prefer to attack from a distance and lay traps. Hunters can tame beasts and fight in melee range when the need arises. The three talent specializations for hunters are Marksmanship, Beast Mastery, and Survival.

Mage - Masters of the elemental arts, Mages have high damage potential but suffer from low defense. The three talent specializations include Fire, which uses many Area of Effect and Burst damage, Frost which offers great survivability and includes a permanent Water Elemental pet that aids in battles, and Arcane which focuses on dealing high damage to a specific target.

Paladin - Holy warriors who can wear plate but can also cast supportive spells to aid their allies in battle.  They can melee DPS, tank, or heal. Paladins also have very strong group support and buff abilities, arguably one of the best buffing and group support classes in the game. Their three talent trees are Holy, Retribution, and Protection.

Priest - The main supportive class in WoW. Priests have the most powerful healing spells but can also inflict heavy damage with shadow related spells. Their  three talent specializations are Discipline, Holy and Shadow.

Rogue - The premier melee damage class. Rogues can dish out a lot of hurt in a short period of time but suffer from lower defense and health compared to other melee classes. Stealth gives them a tactical advantage and allows them to start a fight on their own terms. Rogues do not use mana for their combat abilities. Instead they use energy and generate combo points which are used to execute finishing moves.
Their talent specialization include Assassination, Combat and Subtlety.

Shaman - In touch with the spirit world, Shaman’s use totems to channel energy towards those around them . Shamans are one of the most versatile classes in the game as they can switch seamlessly from offensive caster to healer to melee DPS as needed.Their 3 talents specializations are Elemental, Enhancement and Restoration.

Warlock - Sinister spell casters who use the diabolical arts to summon demons to serve them. Warlocks learn curses and DoTs that weaken and damage their opponents. Their 3 talent trees are Affliction, Demonology and Destruction.

Warrior - The primary melee fighter and tank in WoW, they have the following talent tree Arms, Fury and Protection.

Death Knight - The first ‘Hero Class.’ Introduced in the Lich King expansion, Death Knights start the game at level 55.The only requirement to create this class is to have a non-hero character above lvl 55.Their talent trees are Blood, Frost and Unholy.

Since the Alliance vs. Horde conflict is central to WoW, the player vs. player combat is kinda disappointing. On normal servers PvP is entirely optional, and your PvP flag is triggered only by attacking an enemy NPC or by using a /pvp command.  On the PvP servers the map is divided into friendly, contested and enemy areas. This means that they can't attack you unless you attack them first. In enemy territory, you will be flagged for PvP, but again, they will have to attack you before you can attack them. In contested areas, all players are flagged for PvP, so both factions must be on their guard. The PvP system has some serious flaws, there is no lvl limit on who can attack who so you could get owned by someone ten times your level. The world PvP has no actual goal, would be a lot cooler if you could gain control over some regions or something like that. Another problem is death, dying sends you to a graveyard, at that point you can choose to spawn there with a death penalty or run back to the place were you died and respawn. In PvP players can return in mere seconds and attack whoever killed them, making PvP quite absurd and pointless.

Except World PvP there are few more PvP options that are a little more appealing:
Dueling - One versus one combat in a controlled environment.
Battlegrounds - Horde versus Alliance combat in a competitive environment.
Arena PvP System - Organized on-going tournament that allow for matches that take place in instanced controlled environments between players of the same faction as well as the opposing. Available in 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 .

World of Warcraft has awesome graphics, lots of quests and dungeons, overall a great PvE game ...pvp not so great.
